Gay Island Guide and Hawaii LGBTQ+ Legacy Foundation presents the first ever PRIDE GOT TALENT to celebrate National LGBTQ+ Pride Month in Honolulu, Oahu.
Hawaii’s LGBTQ+ community is full of diverse talents and Pride Got Talent will help to showcase that talent in a fun and exciting way while celebrating LGBTQ+ Pride.
Pride Got Talent is a talent contest for Hawaii’s LGBTQ+ community. Contestants may pre-register online for a prelim or in-person at any prelim location. Two finalists will be selected at each preliminary location and move on to the final. The contest is open to anyone so long as they are able to compete at the final should they win at a prelim.
Each of the preliminaries and the final will consist of various judges and one of the criteria’s that contestants are judged on includes audience reaction. This however, is dependent on each judges way of scoring and thus, may not be solely based on loudest applause.
At the Pride Got Talent Final, a panel of judges selected by Gay Islams Guide will judge the top ten acts who have moved on from the five preliminary locations.
Pride Got Talent will have five preliminary opportunities at popular Hawaii LGBTQ+ bars in Waikiki.
Each location will require contestants to register between 7pm - 7:45pm and contest will start at 8pm.

During the Pride Got Talent Preliminaries and Finals contestants will be judged on a scale of 0 to 10 for each of the listed criteria below, with 10 being the highest.
PRELIMINARIES
Each preliminary host location will provide prizes for the top three winners. However, only the top two will move on to compete in the Pride Got Talent Finals for the overall title and prizes.
FINALS
We will be announcing the final list of prizes here as they come in. However, currently some of the prizes include:

Eligibility
Pride Got Talent (the "Contest") is open to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia and Active Duty Military Personnel who are at least twenty-one (21) years old at the time of entry. Employees of Gay Island Guide and Board Members & Directors of the Hawaii LGBT Legacy Foundation and other companies associated with the promotion of the Contest, and their respective parents. subsidiaries, affiliates and advertising and promotion agencies, as well as, the immediate family (spouse, parents, siblings, and children) and houschold members of each such employee are not eligible to win prizes connected to the respective company, but may qualify to win prizes from other companies
An employee of the hosting preliminary location (Wang Chung’s Karaoke Bar, Chiko’s Tavern, Bacchus Waikiki, In Between Waikiki, Hula’s Bar and Lei Stand) is not eligible to win a preliminary at their employed location. However, they are allowed to compete and win at other preliminary locations where they are not employed. If any employee wins at a preliminary they are allowed to compete at the finals including a Hula’s Bar and Lei Stand employee.
The Contest is subject to federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

Agreement to Official Rules
Participation in the Contest constitutes entrant's full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these official rules and the decisions of the Sponsor, which are final and binding. Winning a prize is contingent upon being compliant with these Official Rules and fulfilling all other requirements, set forth herein.
Contest Period
The Contest begins on May 22, 2024 at 12:00am Hawaii Standard Time and ends on June 27, 2024 at 2:00am Hawaii Standard Time (the "Contest Period"). Entries that are submitted before or after the Contest Period will be disqualified, Submissions will be accepted for the duration of the Contest using any of the following methods: Online registration on GayIslandGuide.net or in-person at a preliminary location.
How to Enter
Online: This method of entry will be available by visiting our website (www.GayIslandGuide.net) and following the directions provided to fill out the entry information, and submit. Contestants will be responsible for ensuring they are at preliminary location on the day of by 7pm ready to compete including having proper music formats and other requirements and deadlines met.
In-Person: This method of entry will be available on each date of a preliminary and at that location at 7pm Hawaii Standard Time. Upon arrival, contestant should check in with a Gay Island Guide employee or designee to sign up. Contestants will be responsible for ensuring they are at preliminary location on the day of by 7pm ready to compete including having proper music formats and other requirements and deadlines met.
Contestants may compete in as many preliminary contests in order to qualify for finals. However, once they have qualified for a position to compete in the finals, they may not continue to compete in other preliminaries.
All entries become the property of Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned.
Talents
Pride Got Talent is open to any legal performing arts including but not limited to: signing, dancing, instrumental music, drag performances, comedy, magic, and etc.
Acts (Entrants)
Acts may include one individual or up to five.
Costumes and Props
It shall be the responsibility of the entrant to provide their own costumes and props. Costumes and props must be appropriate for the location in which they are performing.
Music
Preliminary: Entrants have the option to use background music provided by preliminary locations, such as karaoke tracks and possibly YouTube or similar. However, should an entrant need other audio or music tracks (example: drag performers with a music mix), it shall be the entrants responsibility to provide such music in a compatible format for that location and that locations system. It shall be the entrant’s responsibility to verify with that venue that their audio system is able to play such music or format. For any music, tracks or audio files not available by location on their system, the entrants must submit it to Gay Island Guide and the venue no later than 12noon five days prior to the performance.
Finals: All preliminary finalists who qualify to move to the finals shall be responsible for their own music, tracks and audio for their TWO performances. If an entrant needs karaoke style tracks they shall be responsible to make arrangements to obtain them in Mp format or from a YouTube track. With the exception of the two finalists from the Hula’s Bar & Lei Stand preliminary, all other finalists shall submit their audio/music/tracks to Gay Island Guide no later than 12pm Monday, June 24, 2024.
Performance Length
For all preliminaries and finals, performances should be no longer than 6 minutes.
Judging Criteria
Judges will score each act at preliminaries and finals based on the following categories using a score of 0 to 10 with ten being the highest.
Tie Breaker
In case of any tie at the preliminary or final, Gay Island Guide management shall cast a tie breaking vote.
Wild Card
Gay Island Guide management in their sole discretion shall have the right to invite up to (2) two entrants to the finals from the preliminaries to compete for the title as a “Wild Card”.
Preliminary Winners
(2) Two Winners will be selected from each of the (5) five preliminary locations. Winners will be selected based on specific criteria and scoring by judges with the top two score earners moving on to the finals. There will be just ONE (1) round during each preliminary. Judges will be provided by the host preliminary location and Gay Island Guide. Top two preliminary winners agree that by competing they will be available to compete and will be present to compete at the finals.
Finals Winners
At the finals, the top 10 (2 finalists from each prelim will compete in TWO (2) rounds. Contestants will be judged by a panel of judges selected by Gay Island Guide and based upon specific criteria and scoring. The top three score earners will be awarded at the end of the competition.
Winner Notification
The (2) preliminary winners will be notified at the conclusion of the preliminary at that specific location in-person. The top (3) winners of the finals will be notified at the end of the finals on stage and in-person at the end of the contest.
Each potential Prize winner will be required to complete, electronically sign and submit a Declaration of Compliance within five (5) days of the date notice or attempted notice is sent in order to claim his/her prize. If a potential winner cannot be cottacted, or fails to submit the Declaration of Compliance within the required time period (if'applicable), or prize is returned as undeliverable, potential winner forfeits prize.
If the potential winner is at least 21 but still considered a minor in his/her jurisdiction of residence, Sponsor reserves the right to award the prize in the name of his her parent or legal guardian, who will be required to sign the Declaration of Compliance on the potential winners behalf and fulfill any other requirements imposed on winner set forth herein.
Potential winners must continue fo comply with all terms and conditions of these Official Rules, and winning is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements. In the event that a potential winner is disqualified for any reason, Sponsor will award the applicable prize to an alternate winner from among all remaining eligible entries based on scoring placement. Only one alternate re-awarding will be held, after which the prize will remain un-awarded.
Upon signing Declaration of Compliance and returning it to Gay Island Guide, winner will be responsible to pay for any shipping, handling and other fees or will be responsible to pick up prize in in-person within 10 business days. Failure to comply will result in prize being un-awarded.
Prizes
Preliminary Prizes: Each preliminary location will have different prizes provided by the host venue for the top three score earners, however, only the top two score earners will move on to compete in the finals. Prize values will vary depending on location.
Finals Prizes:
Prizes for the top three score earners will be awarded by Gay Island Guide and its sponsors.
General Conditions
In the event that the operation, security, or administration of the Contest is impaired in any way for any reason, including, but not limited to fraud, virus, bug, worm, unauthorized human intervention or other technical problem, or in the event the Contest is unable to run as planned for any other reason, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion, the Sponsor may, in its sole discretion, either (a) suspend the Contest to address the impairment and then resume the Contest in a manner that best conforms to the spirit of these Official Rules or (b) terminate the Contest and, in the event of termination, award the prize at random from among the eligible, non-suspect entries received up to the time of the impairment. The Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Contest or to be acting in violation of these Official Rules or in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner.
Any attempt by any person to damage the website or undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest may be a violation of criminal and civil law, and, should such an attempt be made, the Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages (including attorney's fees) and any other remedies from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. Failure by the Sponsor to enforce any provision of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.
Release and Limitations of Liability:
By participating in the Contest, entrants agree to release and hold harmless the Sponsor, and each of their respective parents, subsidiaries, attiliates, advertising and promotion agencies, other companies associated with the Contest, and each of their respective officers, directors, employees, shareholders, representatives, and agents (the Released Parties) from and against any claim or cause of action arising out of participation in the Contest or receipt or use of the prize (including any travel or activity related thereto), including, but not limited to: (a) any technical errors associated with the Contest, including lost, interrupted or unavailable Internet Service Provider (ISP), network, server, wireless service provider. or other connections, availability or accessibility or miscommunications or failed computer, satellite. telephone, cellular tower or cable transmissions, lines, or technical failure or jumbled, scrambled, delayed, or misdirected transmissions or computer hardware or software malfunctions, failures or difficulties; (b) unauthorized human intervention in the Contest; (c) mechanical, network, electronic, computer, human, printing or typographical errors; (d) application downloads, (e) any other errors or problems in connection with the Contest, including, without limitation/ errors that may occur in the administration of the Contest, the announcement of the winner, the cancellation or postponement of the event, the incorrect downloading of the application, the processing of entries application downloads or in any Contest-related materials; or (f) injury, death, losses or damages of any kind, to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from entrants participation in the Contest or acceptance, receipt or misuse of the prize (including any travel or activity related théreto). Entrant further agrees that in any cause of action, the Released Parties liability will be limited to the cost of entering and participating in the Contest, and in no event shall the entrant be entitled to receive attorney's fees. Released Parties are also not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by site users, tampering, hacking, or by any equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest.
Entrant waives the right to claim any damages whatsoever, including, but not limited to, punitive, consequential, direct, or indirect damages.
Disputes
Except where prohibited, each entrant agrees that any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of, or connected with, the Contest or any prize awarded shall be resolved individually, without resorting to any form of class action, and exclusively by the appropriate court located in Hawaii. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, entrants rights and obligations, or the rights and obligations of the Sponsor in connection with the Contest, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of Hawaii, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules, which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than Hawaii.
Privacy
Information collected from entrants is subject to sponsor's privacy policy.
Consent and Release For Use of Likeness
Effective as of the date of entry, approval for past use and permission for present and future use is being granted to Gay Island Guide, to use their name and likeness, photos or other images, video or other videography of entrant. Permission is being given by the Entrant, (“Photographed Party"), as more fully explained in this Consent and Release. The entrant is an adult and fully authorized to sign this Consent and Release. For a valuable consideration, receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, the undersigned hereby grants to Gay Island Guide, its agents, employees, licensees, and successors in interest, (collectively, the "Released Party") all ownership rights and the absolute and irrevocable right and permission to copyright, use and publish the photographed likeness of (the "Likeness") that has been (or is being) obtained pursuant to this Consent and Release.
The Likeness may be copyrighted, used and/or published individually or in conjunction with other photography or video works, and in any medium (including without limitation, print publications, social media, public broadcast, CD-ROM format) and for any lawful purposs, including without limitation, trade, exhibition, illustration, promotion, publicity, advertising and electronic pablication.
The entrant represents and warrants that: (1) no other party has boon granted an exclusive license with respect to the Likeness, and (2) no other party's authorization or consent is required with respect to the permission granted to the Released Party under this Consent and Release.
The entrant waives any right that the entrant may have to inspect or approve the Released Party's use of the Likeness, or the advertising copy or printed matter that may be used in connection with the use and/or publication of the Likeness. The entrant releases the Released Party (and all persons acting under its permission or authority) from all claims for libel, slander, invasion of privacy, infringement of copyright or right of publicity, or any other claim related to the Likeness (collectively "Claims"). This release includes without limitation any Claims related to blurting, distortion, alteration, optical illusion, digital alteration, use in composite form, whether intentional or otherwise, or use of a fictitious name, that may occur or be produced in the processing or publication of the Likeness.
THE UNDERSIGNED WARRANTS THAT THE UNDERSIGNED HAS READ THIS CONSENT AND RELEASE PRIOR TO THE SIGNING OF THIS DOCUMENT, THAT THE UNDERSIGNED UNDERSTANDS IT, AND THAT THE UNDERSIGNED FREELY ENTERS INTO THIS CONSENT AND RELEASE.
Social Media and Release
Instagram, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), TikTok, Threads, Meta, SnapChat are not sponsors to any Gay Island Guide contests and does not endorse and or administer any Gay Island Guide contest. By entering a Gay Island Guide contest, entrant immediately releases all social media platforms listed in this paragraph from any liability or responsibility.
